I am not a gamer... lets be clear. I attended the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco last week - some great sessions and saw a lot of really cool technology - hardware and software. It's amazing how this industry, is growing and maturing. The level of talent and technology that is required to create a game is incredible.
The big take away? Violence. I have never seen so much blood, guts, decapitations, amputations and sheer physical violence as I did watching the demo's of the latest and most popular games. It was truly unbelievable. I was left wondering what affect it was truly having on our kids.
I am not a prude nor am I self righteous - but witnessing this - and it was everywhere - was a bit unnerving.
There's something seriously wrong with our culture when kind of physical violence is seen and used as entertainment - by our youth.
Ouch.
Other than that the conference was great.
